Summary:
The Forest Road Scheme provides grants to cover the cost of building forest roads primarily for harvesting but also for other management activities such as fire protection and recreation. The scheme also includes a special construction works grant for 50% of the cost of the project up to a maximum of €5,000 per application.

Eligibility:
All private owners of forests over 18 years of age and holding a Personal Public Service Number (PPSN) are eligible to apply. Companies must provide their company registration details.

Funding Amount:
Grants of up to 100% of eligible costs incurred in the construction of a forest road are available. The maximum rate for a Harvesting Road or Harvesting Upgrade or Extension is €40 per linear metre. An additional allowance is available to cover costs up to €800 where a new entrance to the public road is being created or modified.

How to Apply:
Applications must be made through a registered forester to the Forestry Division, Department of Agriculture, Food & the Marine. Application forms can be downloaded from the source website.
