Summary:
The Complementary Income Support for Young Farmers is a payment made to farmers under the age of 40 who are educated in agriculture to help them succeed in farming. It can be paid for up to 5 years.
Eligibility:
To qualify, applicants must have submitted a valid 2025 Basic Income Support for Sustainability application, be under 40 years of age, be setting up a holding as head of the holding, have completed a recognised course of education in agriculture by 15 May 2025, and apply for inclusion under the 2025 Complementary Income Support for Young Farmers.
Funding Amount:
The Young Farmers Scheme payment is made per eligible hectare, subject to a maximum of 50 hectares. Payments should average approximately €150 per eligible hectare over the 5-year term of the scheme.
How to Apply:
Applications must be submitted on or before 15 May 2025 through agfood.ie. If login or password are expired, applicants can contact the Department’s helpdesk or authorise an agricultural consultant or Teagasc advisor to apply on their behalf.
