Summary:
This grant is designed for individuals who wish to improve, repair, or extend their homes but are unable to secure a loan from a bank or building society. The applicant must own and live in the home to qualify for the loan. These loans are only available from some local authorities.

Eligibility:
To be eligible, applicants must demonstrate that they cannot obtain a loan from a bank or building society. They must also meet one of several criteria, such as being registered on a housing waiting list with a local authority, being a local authority tenant or tenant purchaser looking to buy a private house, or being a tenant for over a year of a home provided by an approved housing body. Funding Amount:
The maximum loan amount is €38,000 if the loan is secured by a mortgage on the house (or €50,000 if the home is on an offshore island), or €15,000 if the loan is not secured by a mortgage on the house.
