Summary:
The scheme aims to support the development of the organic sector by ensuring a regular supply of high-quality organic produce to the market. It provides financial assistance to projects that improve the organic sector, guide production in line with market trends, improve production, handling, and preparation of organic produce, adopt new technologies, ensure the adoption of “best practice”, and develop facilities for preparation, grading, packing, storage, distribution, or the sale of organic products.
Eligibility:
The scheme is open to licensed organic operators registered with an approved organic certification body and the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine. Applicants must own or have leasehold title to the site on which it is proposed to carry out the development and agree to provide relevant bank details for electronic fund transfer. A business plan is required for applications greater than €90,000 excluding VAT.
Funding Amount:
The grant aid is payable at 60% of the eligible cost (pre vat). Projects costing less than €3,000 excluding VAT will not be eligible for grant assistance.
